Crafting Skills Today for Tomorrow’s Builders

Where Tradition Meets Innovation
Building For The Future equips students with practical skills in craftsmanship and design while nurturing their connection to cultural values. This program empowers young makers to honor the past while building for tomorrow, creating a foundation for careers in engineering, architecture, and design. Students explore woodworking and machining using state-of-the-art technology while honoring the cultural values of creativity, problem-solving, and community contribution.
Hands-On Learning with a Purpose: Craft meaningful projects that connect traditional woodworking techniques with modern machining tools.
Cutting-Edge Technology: Use touch-screen computers and advanced design software to bring ideas to life, making the design process interactive and engaging.
Engineering Design Process in Action: Learn to brainstorm, design, prototype, and improve creations step-by-step. Students learn to “fail forward”, building resilience and practicing critical thinking skills.
Cultural Values in Practice: Infuse every project with the principles of collaboration and creativity that are core to our Alaska Native Traditional Values.
Real-World Applications: Build structures and tools that serve your family, school, or community—projects that make a tangible impact.
